Right Outside Mirror Item #: mr33

Presidents Note:

This mirror was not originally designed for use by a driving instructor sitting on the passenger side of the car.

Originally, I was considering another product that could be mounted onto the outside right mirror. I obtained a sample, tried it on the passenger side and found that it couldn’t be adjusted far enough out to the right.

I thought that this was strange. The sample mirror was symmetrical; so why did it work mounted on the driver’s side looking from the driver’s seat but did not work mounted on the passenger’s side looking from the passenger’s seat? What I found was this: The mirror housing on one side of a vehicle may look exactly the same as the one on the other, however, they have one fundamental difference. They are built at different angles in order to incorporate the driver’s vantage point.

This first sample product that I obtained did not have enough adjustment to be viable as a driving instructor’s mirror. However, later I came across this product that had a substantial degree of adjustment to it. This mirror (our item # mr33) is shown in the picture on your right installed on a 2009 Hyundai Accent. The glass has been adjusted all the way to the right, a slightly more rightward adjustment may be desired but the mirror is fully functional for a driving instructor.

  • Significant angle adjustment makes the mirror suitable for use by a driving instructor sitting on the car’s passenger side.
  • Convexed to provide a wider angle view.
  • Clamps onto vehicles existing outside mirror: No drilling into the car’s mirror is necessary.
  • Mirror glass size: 5 by 2 ½ inches.
  • Can be transferred onto other vehicles.
  • Adaptable to many different vehicles: Comes with three different mounting pads one of which can be used for your application.

Mirror Contents

The picture on the right shows a disassembled view of your MR33 mirror along with everything that comes with it (installation instructions not shown).
1. Mirror Glass Assembly
2. Mirror Body
3. Phillips head screw for attaching the Mirror Glass Assembly to the Mirror Body
4. 3 Rubber mounting strips
5. 2 C Clamps with bolts
6. Wrench

Installation Instructions

Along with the wrench supplied with your mirror you will need a Robinson screw driver.

Remove the robinson screw from the back of the mirror: Please note that when the screw is removed the GLASS ASSEMBLY will be detached from the MIRROR HOUSING: Don’t allow the GLASS ASSEMBLY to fall out and break.

Check to make sure you have every thing that comes with the mirror:
2. MIRROR HOUSING (with two C clamps and bolts attached to it)
3. One wrench
4. Three rubber mounting strips

Screw the bolt back out of the C clamp as far as it will go without it being removed from the clamp. (When the bolt is screwed out of the clamp as far as possible it is impossible for the clamp to fall out of the MIRROR HOUSING.) Repeat this procedure for the second clamp.

Test fit the MIRROR HOUSING on your vehicles mirror. One of the three rubber mounting strips can be placed between the vehicles mirror housing and the MR33 MIRROR HOUSING: Determine which strip will make a better fit for your application.

With the rubber strip in place hold the MIRROR HOUSING at the desired location with one hand; with the other hand tighten the C clamp bolts. Once the MIRROR HOUSING has been hand tightened use the wrench to finish tighten.

With the MIRROR HOUSING attached to the vehicle reinsert the GLASS ASSEMBLY into the MIRROR HOUSING

Important Notes

  • The tabs of the GLASS ASSEMBLY need to match up to the slots in the MIRROR HOUSING.
  • Avoid cross threading the robinson screw into the GLASS ASSEMBLY: If the screw is hard to turn in initially it may not be going back into its original female thread; back the screw out and reposition it so that the screw goes in more easily.
